FRAS polyurethane for underground mining. TRG3608 documentation maintained. Australian Made.
FRAS Polyurethane
Fire Retardant Anti-Static
Elastomers Queensland manufactures FRAS polyurethane products for underground coal and hard rock mining applications. FRAS means the polyurethane formulation has been tested and confirmed to meet fire retardancy and anti-static requirements for use in underground mining environments.
Fire retardancy: the material self-extinguishes when the ignition source is removed — it does not sustain combustion. This is a critical safety property in underground environments where methane gas or coal dust may be present.
Anti-static: the material dissipates electrostatic charge within a defined resistance range, preventing static build-up that could act as an ignition source in methane or dust-laden atmospheres.
Products available in FRAS grade:
- Polyurethane sheet (3mm to 100mm)
- Conveyor accessories — scrapers, skirting, hungry boards
- Custom mouldings to drawing
- Wear liners — bolt-on and bonded-to-steel
- Shuttle car bumpers
- Cable crossover pads
- Rollers and lagging
TRG3608 — NSW Resources Regulator Compliance
TRG3608 (formerly MDG3608) is the NSW Resources Regulator technical reference guide that defines the technical requirements for non-metallic materials used in underground coal mining. It specifies the test methods, performance criteria, and documentation requirements that apply to FRAS products supplied to underground coal mines in Australia.
Although originating in NSW, TRG3608 has become the effective national reference for FRAS materials accepted by mine operators and regulators across Australian jurisdictions. Mine operators in Queensland, Western Australia, and other states typically require TRG3608-compliant products for underground applications.
Elastomers Queensland maintains the documentation required by TRG3608 for our FRAS products. This includes records of raw material formulations used in FRAS products and links between production batches and the tested formulation. This documentation chain allows mine site safety and compliance teams to verify that components supplied match the tested specification.
Compliance documentation is available on request for mine site purposes. Contact us with your specific documentation requirements.
Australian Made
Elastomers Queensland products are manufactured in Australia — specifically, in our facility at Clontarf, Queensland. We purchase raw polyurethane chemicals, mix and cast them in our facility, machine on our CNC equipment, and fabricate steel components in our workshop. There is no offshore manufacturing component.
For FRAS compliance, the Australian manufacturing location supports the integrity of the documentation chain — it links back to a manufacturing process carried out in Australia under Australian regulatory oversight.
