CNC Machining & Fabrication Services — Queensland
A complete manufacturing partner. Polyurethane casting, CNC machining, MIG/TIG welding, sheet metal fabrication and sandblasting — all under one roof in Clontarf, Brisbane.

Elastomers Queensland is not simply a polyurethane caster. Our facility in Clontarf includes a full machining and fabrication workshop that allows us to deliver complete components — not just the polyurethane element — from a single source. For customers who need composite components combining polyurethane wear surfaces with steel or aluminium structures, this in-house capability is essential to the quality and consistency of the finished part.
The practical advantage for customers is simplified supply and clearer accountability. When the polyurethane, the tooling, the machining, and the fabrication are all handled in one facility by one team, there is no gap in responsibility and no delay at the interface between subcontractors. You deal with one point of contact and receive a complete, tested component.
SolidWorks and OneCNC CAD
Our engineering team uses SolidWorks 3D CAD for component design and mould design. Where customers provide 2D drawings, we can convert them to 3D models for tooling design. Where a customer starts from a worn original or a description, we build the 3D model from scratch, working with the customer to finalise geometry before committing to tooling.
OneCNC is used for CNC programming — translating CAD models directly into the machine code that drives our CNC equipment. This tight integration between design and machining reduces programming errors and ensures that the component we machine matches the design intent exactly.
For customers who supply their own CAD files, we accept common formats including STEP, IGES, SolidWorks native, and DXF for 2D profiles. If you are uncertain whether your file format is compatible, contact us — we will advise.
CNC Turning and Milling
Our CNC lathes and machining centres are used for two primary purposes: machining finished surfaces on cast polyurethane components, and manufacturing tooling (moulds) for polyurethane casting.
Cast polyurethane components typically require some machined surfaces — bores, faces, outside diameters, or profiles — that cannot be achieved to the required tolerance in the moulded surface. Our CNC turning and milling capability allows us to machine these surfaces to drawing tolerances after casting and demoulding.
Tooling manufacture is equally important. The quality of the mould determines the quality of every casting produced from it. Our machining centres produce moulds with the precision required for tight-tolerance polyurethane components. In-house tooling manufacture also means we can make mould modifications quickly when design changes are required.
We also machine components in steel, aluminium, and other engineering materials where the requirement is for a machined metal component rather than a polyurethane one — or where the final component is a composite of polyurethane and machined metal.
MIG, TIG and Spot Welding
Our welding capability covers MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), and spot welding. This allows us to manufacture steel backing plates for bonded polyurethane liners, fabricate structural frames and housings, and produce composite polyurethane-and-steel components entirely in-house.
MIG welding is used for structural fabrication — frames, backing plates, and structural members where weld appearance is secondary to strength. TIG welding is used where appearance and precision are required — thin-walled components, aluminium fabrications, and structural welds that will be in visible positions. Spot welding is used for sheet metal assemblies where consistent, repeatable weld placement is required.
Common welded components we manufacture include steel backing plates for bonded wear liners, conveyor chute structural modifications, frames for custom polyurethane-lined equipment, and replacement structural components for mining and processing equipment.
Sheet Metal Fabrication — Bending, Rolling, Forming and CNC Punching
Our sheet metal capability covers the full range of forming processes required for backing plates, liners, enclosures, and structural fabrications.
Press brake bending produces precise bend angles in flat sheet, from thin-gauge sheet metal to heavy structural plate. Rolling forms sheet into cylindrical or curved profiles for conveyor chute sections, pipe linings, and curved structural components. Our CNC punch press produces precision holes, cutouts, and forms in sheet metal to programmed patterns — eliminating the manual layout and drilling that slows down lower-volume fabrication.
For composite polyurethane-and-steel components, the steel backing plate is typically fabricated, sandblasted, and chemically prepared in our facility before the polyurethane is cast or bonded to it. This integrated process ensures the quality of the bond between the polyurethane and the steel substrate.
Sandblasting and Surface Preparation
In-house sandblasting is essential for the quality of bonded polyurethane components. The chemical adhesion between polyurethane and steel depends critically on the surface preparation of the steel — a contaminated, scaled, or inadequately roughened surface will produce a bond that fails prematurely.
Our sandblasting facility allows us to prepare steel substrates to the surface cleanliness and profile required for reliable polyurethane bonding. This is carried out in-house, immediately before chemical bonding treatment and polyurethane application — minimising the risk of re-contamination that occurs when surface preparation and bonding are separated by transport or extended storage.
Sandblasting is also used to prepare components for painting and coating where the finished component requires surface protection beyond the polyurethane coverage.
